Local NDIS businesses provided the tools for success

In August 2018 the Stretton Centre launched pilot program, Stretton Connect: NDIS Business Support Program, to support small businesses located in Northern Adelaide who are seeking to provide services to people with a disability through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

This tailor-made program for NDIS providers strengthens their businesses and unlocks their potential for growth through mentoring, upskilling and networking.

Kerri Hay, Director and Founder of Healing Through Arts and a co-worker at the Stretton Centre has been a participant from the beginning. According to Kerri ‘the Stretton Connect NDIS Business Support Program has been amazing.’

“The financial support I have received from Vanessa Bamford, Director of Vision Beyond Business through the program has been fantastic. I have learnt to stop thinking as an employee and start thinking as a business owner.”

Each month participants have access to custom designed workshops delivered by local consultants that target business pressure points, encourage innovation and critical business thinking.

Initial consultation sessions with Stretton Centre business support staff ensures topics such as human resource management, digital marketing, business resources, finance and consumer law are tailored to cover the businesses unique needs.

Participants also have access to additional one-on-one consultations and mentoring throughout the duration of the program.

“So far I have sat down with Vanessa Bamford to work through my business’ budget and really focus on the numbers. I have also worked closely with Shari Chambers from Upclose and Personnel, for human resources support as I prepared to hire two new employees in late November,” said Kerri.

Participants are also strongly encouraged to attend networking events to increase brand awareness of their business and grow their networks in the community.

The Stretton Connect NDIS Business Support Program is limited to up to 20 businesses to maximise outcomes, ensuring a tailored approach for each business. If you would like to learn more, or are interested in joining the next round of the program contact us at connect@strettoncentre.com.au.

Stretton Connect: NDIS Business Support Program is funded by the Government of South Australia’s Department for Industry and Skills and delivered in collaboration with the National Disability Services.
