Sneaky's Restaurant owner and Head Chef, Anthony Pilaia has always had a passion for people and Italian food - it's in his blood.
“My grandparents ran the very first pizza bar in Two Wells over thirty years ago; they brought with them their traditional family recipes from Italy when they migrated to Australia in the 1950s.”
“I learnt the ropes from my Nonno, who taught me the family business,” he said.
Six years ago he partnered with Virgara Wines to open Sneaky’s Restaurant, bringing over 20 years of experience in the food and hospitality industry with him.
I chose Angle Vale to establish the restaurant, as it is in a good location in a growing area. We have a cellar door and winery in the vicinity and a large garden perfect for weddings.
Last year Sneaky’s were awarded the South Australian Restaurant Reception Centre of the year 2019, awarded by the Australian Bridal Industry Academy.
A local boy himself, living in Angle Vale with his wife Rhiannon and family, employing local people is important to Anthony with over 20 of his employees from the local area.
“Fortunately I was able to retain all of my staff with the recent support of the Government Job Keeper stimulus package,” he said.
Sneaky’s temporarily closed its doors when COVID-19 restrictions were first introduced for the health and safety of their staff, customers, family and friends. After closing the business for six weeks they re-opened with a new approach offering pick-up and delivery options.
You will find most of the restaurant menu is still on offer, with delivery options now available across Playford and some suburbs in Gawler and Salisbury.
Anthony says, “the majority of what we serve to our customers is handmade and cooked on the premises. My aim is to bring restaurant quality food to your home.”
