Looking to cater for their growing number of referrals in Adelaide's Northern suburbs, Adaptive Workplace Solutions director Kelly Alderson began searching for a space she could call home while on the road and was recommended the Stretton Centre through connections at Tonsley co-working space, CO-HAB.
Soon after, Kelly started working from a hot desk before moving into one of the Stretton Centre’s office spaces. With growing demand in the north and the travel required to service these clients a more sustainable long-term plan was needed and this saw local Cass Hill start with the business six months later. With a background as a schoolteacher and psychology studies behind her, Cass started with Adaptive Workplace Solutions in 2017, and has called their space at the Stretton Centre her home ever since. Cass finds that Stretton’s co-working space perfectly suits her work which can be quite varied week-to-week, requiring her to be on the road often but also needing a place to meet with her clients.
‘Living in the northern suburbs myself, working from the Stretton Centre has been great for my work and life balance. I just love my little office space here. Some of the work that I undertake with clients is very private, so it suits this well, and much of my work is on the road so co-working caters to that by not needing to rent a larger premises that I’m not situated in all the time, said Cass. ‘with some of the work I do being remote and dealing with some tough topics, it can feel isolating so it’s great to come to Stretton and have plenty of other people to talk to in passing or at the coffee machine. It certainly works well for me.’
Specialising in rehabilitation psychology, counselling and mediation, Adaptive Workplace Solutions are an independent consultancy who provide a range of services including psychological treatment, injury management and prevention, pain education, workplace mediation, return to work and new employment preparation. Cass’s role as Senior Rehabilitation Counsellor and Nationally Accredited Mediator requires many conversations where confidentiality is required, and her office space perfectly provides a safe place for these to occur with her clients.
Cass is glowing about her experiences co-working at the Stretton Centre and would recommend anyone looking for a new space or looking to move out of their home-based office to really consider making the shift.
“There are many advantages to co-working. The big one for me is that social connection. But there are also plenty of other practical advantages too such as having the check-in reception means we don’t need to worry about admin support. Also having security and other people around makes for a safe environment to work in,’ said Cass, ‘the coffee is nice too!’
