The City of Playford recently partnered with the Australian Refugee Association (ARA) and the Northern Adelaide Health and Wellbeing Partnership to deliver an inspiring industry immersion tour at the Northern Adelaide Health Precinct.

ARA coordinated a group of 18 high school students from the northern region, providing transport and support for the visit. The tour, facilitated by the Northern Adelaide Health and Wellbeing Partnership, gave students a unique behind-the-scenes look at the precinct’s wide range of health services, including aged care, disability support, mental health, and acute care.

Students also visited Lyell McEwin Hospital, where they took part in an engaging workshop exploring real-world career pathways within the health sector. The session highlighted the many roles available in health, both clinical and non-clinical, as well as the education and training options that can lead students from school into meaningful, purpose-driven careers.

The students were highly engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and showed a genuine interest in the possibilities ahead. Experiences like this are vital for young people, especially those in Year 10 and beyond, as they begin shaping their futures. Sometimes, all it takes is one visit to spark a lifelong passion.

Industry immersion tours play an important role in connecting education with real opportunities and helping the next generation understand the career options available right here in their community.
