There's never been a better time for those aspiring business owners among us. The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) is here to help jobseekers realise their dream of self employment.
We think NEIS has some great benefits, check them out below!
1. You'll get a Cert 3 or 4
It's handy if you're a jobseeker- NEIS gets you a nationally recognized qualification and is a Centrelink approved activity for up to 13 weeks.
The exact qualification is dependent on the type of business you're planning, but it will be either:
- Certificate III in Micro-Business Operations; or
- Certificate IV in New Small Business
So not only do you get to start a business, you also get a qualification. That's a pretty good deal!
2. You'll get a mentor
Participants also get access to a business mentor for support for the first year of operation.
These mentors have experience with running or managing a business, meaning they're ready to advise on organisational, financial and marketing matters.
Mentoring is great because it helps you stay on track and keep motivated. Besides, you'll have a knowledgeable sounding board for ideas, which is never a bad thing!
3. You'll learn all the essentials
The program covers a broad range of topics that business owners need to know. You'll develop a good understanding of:
- Marketing and promotion;
- Legal and administrative requirements;
- Financial and operational planning;
- Record keeping; and
- Developing a business plan.
It's no secret that these topics are all super important to the success of a business.
